Crimean tour of Oleg Vinogradov’s ballet troupe started in Sevastopol

Ballet troupe of one of the leading ballet masters of Russia and the world, National Artist of the USSR Oleg Vinogradov performed in Sevastopol Centre of Culture and Arts within the scope of the tour, organized by the YIEF Foundation. Choreographic show “Vivat, Ballet!” has been presented to 700 citizens and city’s guest. The performance, which included fragments of academic ballet, was full house.

“Today you will see best templates of St. Petersburg ballet, - said Oleg Vinogradov, addressing to the public before the show. – This is very special aesthetics, which has been developing for 300 years. Ballet is the most wonderful and sophisticated art form. It comprises sculpture and painting, physical exercises and spiritual enrichment. But first of all, this is beauty, most powerful and graceful art. Because the most beautiful in this world is woman. And ballet shows us woman as a highest embodiment of beauty”.

The programme of the performance included classical ballets’ fragments: “Swan Lake”, “Pachita” and “Harlequinade”. “These are masterpieces of classical choreography, antiquarian dances, passed on from generation to generation, - commented Oleg Vinogradov. – We will start with fragment from “Pachita” ballet – this is one of the most famous masterpieces, created by a man, who’s been conducting the Mariinsky theatre for 60 years, a Frenchman Marius Petipa”.

Mr. Vinogradov thanked YIEF Foundation for organizing the tour. “This is unprecedented occasion, when we invite people to see the ballet for free”, - emphasized the choreographer.     

Deputy Governor of Sevastopol Yury Krivov also expressed appreciation to the organizers. “Today is a special evening; we meet one of the legends of the world ballet. I am glad that arrangements, made on the Yalta International Economic Forum are fulfilling and Sevastopol spectators have an opportunity to get acquainted with artwork of such a glorious master”, - said Mr. Krivov in his opening remarks before the ballet. He also presented letter of gratitude and flowers on behalf of acting Governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov.
