Pace of Construction in Crimea More than Quadruples within a Year

“The volume of completed construction works has increased more than four-fold. This includes, of course, road building, construction of social facilities and housing. The volume of erected apartment buildings has increased 1.5-fold against the same period last year. All these indicators are the result of our joint work aimed at developing the Republic”, Mr Kononov stressed.

A significant amount of construction work has been carried out within the framework of implementing the Federal Target Programme “Social and Economic Development of the Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol up to 2020”. “The programme will remove infrastructure barriers by ensuring transport accessibility, provision of settlements with energy and water resources, and development of the social infrastructure; in other words, it will create conditions for further development of Crimea. I hope that the pace we’ve set will enable us to complete all projects launched with due quality and on time and will create a basis for implementing new large-scale projects”, said the Minister.

The growth in the construction and development sector is widely discussed at the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF). Each of the three years the Forum has been held there had had a grand section devoted to the topic: “Construction as the Driver of Economic Growth in Russia”. Within the scope of YIEF-2017, representatives of the management of major Russian construction companies, international investors and experts, high-ranking public officials, including Mikhail Men, Minister of Construction and Housing of the Russian Federation, have taken part in the discussions of construction industry development, constraining factors, and possible steps to mitigate them.

Construction will be the main theme of the upcoming ninth edition of the Business Crimea magazine, published with the support of the YIEF Foundation.
