At the airport “Simferopol”, the construction of the main building of the new airways complex is completed. The agreement for its construction was signed within the II Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF) in April 2016.

“There is no doubt that virtually in a few months, by the beginning of the tourist season, this terminal will welcome first passengers and absolutely all flights will be transferred here, including prospective international ones, — said Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Maksim Sokolov, giving a speech at the official ceremony of finishing the building envelope of the terminal. — We can already see that this is going to be very presentable gates of the whole Crimean Peninsula and this site is very likely to become one of the architectural landmarks of the capital of the Republic of Crimea – the city of Simferopol.”

Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov emphasized that the new airways terminal will become an outstanding infrastructural facility throughout Russia. “We are proud of the work done, — stated the head of the region. — Such an airport is the honor for the whole Russian Federation. Thanks to this airport, regions of our vast country, Russia, will become closer to us.”

“This is a fantastic object on the Crimean level, and globally it is also very significant and large, — noted Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov. — It is not just an airport or just an object of transport infrastructure. For Crimea, both the Crimean Bridge and the airport are signs and symbols of unity with our Motherland, to which we were coming for so long.”

After the commencement, the new airport complex will be able to provide a high level of service to passengers, assured Yevgeny Plaksin, the General Director of "International Airport "Simferopol" ("IAS").  "After completing the construction and putting this object into operation, it will be one of the best in performance quality and service level. We are actively working on it," — said Mr. Plaksin.

Works on installation of metal structures of the terminal building, including roofs, have been fully completed, the interior has been completed on 84%, work on the settling of networks of power supply and lighting, water supply have been made by 93%.  Now the main works are held in the territory adjacent to the terminal building, workmen asphalt sidewalks, driveway and parking.

A new passenger terminal with an area of 78 thousand square meters can serve up to 10 million passengers per year. The total investment is more than 32 billion roubles. The construction of the terminal is the largest investment project which is implemented at the moment in Crimea with the private capital involved.
