“On 16 April, at 08:00, the new terminal opens. All flights will arrive and depart from there”, Igor Laptev told RIA Novosti Crimea.
Simferopol’s new airport terminal is Crimea’s biggest investment project worth RUB 32 billion. The terminal has an annual capacity of 6.5 million passengers; the authorities promise to make it fully operational prior before the holiday season opens.
As RIA Novosti Crimea reported, in late 2017, work was completed on the thermal envelope of the terminal. Taxis
The new terminal has an area of 78,000 sq.m. When it opens, its capacity is planned to increase to 3650 passengers an hour, with an annual capacity of 6.5 million passengers. The new terminal has 55 check-in counters (52 standard ones and three counters for oversize baggage), eight exits to ramp buses, 16 escalators, 28 lifts and two prayer rooms for Christians and Muslims; each room measures 30 sq.m. In addition, eight mobile telescopic jetbridges with circular and linear LED lighting will be in operation.
The investment agreement on building the new airport terminal at Simferopol Airport was signed in April 2016 on the sidelines of the 2nd Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF).
