Several Italian companies are ready to open distribution points in the cities of Crimea or to place production on the peninsula. One of the key speakers of the seminar was Sergey Lazutkin, Director of Proxy Centre, who told the participants about prospective lines of investment in the economy of the Republic of Crimea and the opportunities of the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF).

The business forum in Modena (Emilia-Romagna region) has attracted more than 50 business representatives from different regions of Italy, interested in implementing business projects in Russia and other forms of cooperation with Russia. The meeting of Italian entrepreneurs with Russian economic experts and representatives of the Fund "YIEF" was the main event of the business program of the festival "Russian evenings".

The opening ceremony was attended by public speaking of the representatives of the administration of Modena and the honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Ancona (Marche region) lawyer Marco Ginesi. Later Olga Goncharuk - economic expert, former rector of St. Petersburg state University of Engineering and Economics, who took part in the Forum at Proxy Centre invitation, has presented a report on the economic situation in Russia. The expert has presented the main development trends of the Russian economy, Russia's place in the World economy, the opportunities and threats created by the current economic situation in the country. Ms. Goncharuk has also presented an analysis of the impacts of EU sanctions against Russia for the Russian economy and for European countries, including Italy.

Sergey Lazutkin in his speech reported about the economic opportunities of Crimea as Russia's largest free economic zone and the region, which occupies one of the first places in Russia in terms of economic development. "By the end of 2017 economic growth in the Republic of Crimea has exceeded 10%. Together with the rapid development of infrastructure, construction of new highways, power plants, the largest bridge in Europe, this creates favorable conditions for the start of business projects, including with the participation of foreign business," – claimed director of Proxy Centre. He has also informed about the opportunities of the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF), which is one of the four largest economic forums in Russia, and has invited the participants of the seminar "Italy — Russia" to visit next forum in April 2019.

Among the participants of the meeting were representatives of business and political circles, who have already participated in the YIEF. They added the speech of Mr. Lazutkin by telling Italian colleagues about their experience and the potential of YIEF as an international business platform.

Participants of the meeting asked questions about the most promising areas for investment in the economy of Crimea, the mechanisms for export and import of goods to the region and the order of operation of customs structures.

After the Forum Sergey Lazutkin held a number of meetings with Italian businessmen, interested in the implementation of business projects in Crimea. So, at the meeting Ms. Anna Marchetti , the owner of the fashion-brand Anna Marchetti Group, discussed the possibility of setting up the network of Italian clothing stores in Crimea. Representatives of the management of the famous Italian manufacturer of ceramics have also discussed the prospects of distribution to Crimea. At the moment, the company's products are successfully sold in St. Petersburg, and the owners are considering expanding their presence in Russia. Two Italian companies— a manufacturer of furniture made of valuable varieties of wood for individual orders and a manufacturer of environmentally friendly food — have expressed interest in placing manufacturing units in Crimea. The participants of the meetings agreed with Sergey Lazutkin to continue negotiations in working order.

"In recent years, I have had the opportunity to speak at several business events in different regions of Italy. As a result of these meetings, it is noticeable that the interest of Italian business in cooperation with Russia is constantly growing," - said the director of Proxy Centre. "I am sure that the Forum will contribute to the rapprochement of the business circles of our countries and the implementation of joint business projects in spite of sanctions restrictions and temporary political difficulties."
