Residents of Crimea will be able to receive services of Sberbank and VTB. This will be possible through the use of biometrics, said Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Financial Market Committee.
Since July 1, it is planned to launch a project that uses biometric data to access banking programs. The project involves the two largest financial and credit organizations operating on the peninsula. Through them residents of Crimea who have passed the procedure of biometrics will be able to connect to the Internet services of Sberbank and VTB and receive the necessary services.
At the same time, Aksakov noted that "saturation of credit offices" in Crimea is now equal to other regions.
The project involves the RNCB (Russian National Commercial Bank) and the Rossiya Bank. Residents of Crimea can, if desired, provide biometric data and receive services of Sberbank and VTB, while at home.
At the same time, entrepreneurs and legal entities will be able to use "digital signature and all digital technologies for remote identification" instead of biometrics.
Before making this decision, the head of VTB Andrey Kostin said that the bank sees no need to enter the market of the Crimea and be put under sanctions because of this. The management of Sberbank also categorically refuses to open its branches on the peninsula.
