Yalta again hosts participants of the "Great Russian Word" festival

The XII International Festival "The Great Russian Word" was opened on June 5 in Yalta and confined to UN Russian Language Day.

The Livadia Palace was chosen for the evening open ceremony. The welcome speech at the event was made by the Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, heads of federal and republican authorities took part in the festival.

The major event of the festival was the plenary session of the IV International Livadia Forum "Russian World and the World Humanitarian Space", which was held on June 6 in the White Hall of the Livadia Palace. The Livadia forum and festival, which are held under the patronage of the Federation Council, are large-scale international platforms for discussing the development and protection of the Russian language abroad, enhancing its role in the Eurasian and world humanitarian field, in the integration processes within the CIS and the Eurasian Union.

The guests and participants of the festival will be both Russians and their compatriots from foreign countries. The goal of the festival is to preserve and develop Russian language. During the week, there will be meetings devoted to the language of Pushkin and Tolstoy, teachers of all levels of education from Russia and abroad will take part in them. Young compatriots and their foreign friends will have their say and tell about Russian language.

Exhibition-fair with products of masters of arts and crafts will be opened on the Yalta quay, where products made of ceramics, wood, and metal will be presented. For the fans of printed publications, festival "Book Alleys" will start its work, the event is supported by the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Crimea jointly with the Committee for Press and Interaction with the Media of St. Petersburg.

The forum in Yalta will end on Russia Day, which is celebrated on June 12. It is expected that during the festival week, Crimea will be visited by delegations from the CIS and Baltic countries, Syrian representatives and participants from Jordan.
