New cultural space will be created in Sevastopol at a cost of 25 billion rubles

Public space with a park area will be located on the coastline with a length of about 13 km

The project of creating the theatrical-educational, museum complex, movie and concert hall in the territory from Artilleriyskaya to Karantinnaya bays was considered by the city government. It is supposed that a museum complex, opera and ballet theater, a concert hall, a higher school of theater and music, a Museum of Defense of Sevastopol in 1941-1942, a choreography school and dormitories for teachers and students will be built on the coastline in five years.

The press service of the city government noted that according to preliminary calculations, the volume of investments will be about 25 billion rubles.

The Sevastopol authorities considered the appeal of the Fund of Social and Cultural Projects "National Cultural Heritage" for leasing 3 land plots with a total area of ​​18.3 hectares in the area of ​​Cape Khrustalny without bidding for the start of large-scale construction of the new cultural facilities. Founders of the Fund are the Tretyakov Gallery, the Hermitage, the Mariinsky Theatre and the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.

The authorities noted that development of the technical enquiry and further pre-project work will last for about one and a half years, after which the construction of projects will begin. It is supposed that the first construction put in place will be the Museum of Defense of Sevastopol in 1941-1942.

In August 2018, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets and Sevastopol Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov presented to President of Russia Vladimir Putin the project of creating a new cultural space in the region that includes: a museum, a movie and concert complex, an opera and ballet theater, a higher school of arts and a choreographic academy. All these projects will be merged into a single urban public space with a park zone, a total length of about 13 km - from the Kornilov quay to Katernaya street.
