The stand of the Republic of Crimea and the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF) has opened at the Russian Investment Forum (RIF) in Sochi.
On 27 February, the first day of RIF, Sergey Aksyonov, Head of the Republic of Crimea, will deliver a presentation of the investment potential of Crimea and YIEF. According to him, during the forum, the Government of the Republic of Crimea was planning to sign more than RUB 10 bn worth of contracts to implement investment projects. In addition, the Government of Crimea is expected to make an agreement with the administration of the Tambov Region and the Government of the Nishny Novgorod Region on cooperation in the trade, economic, and scientific, technical, social, and cultural areas.
“Business visionaries are already eyeing Crimea without sanctions and are paving the way for investments. Last year alone, 47 foreign business delegations from Italy, China, Greece, South Asian and European countries visited Crimea, and YIEF contributed to that”, Mr. Aksyonov said. “The Yalta International Economic Forum is a crucial instrument for promoting the investment potential of Crimea. This year we will have the 3rd YIEF, from 20 through 22 April.”
YIEF 2017 is expected to have even more delegations and feature higher-level discussions. Last year, 70 representatives from 26 countries came to the Forum, whereas, in 2017, at least 250 representatives of the international business community from 40 countries are expected.
The stand of the Republic of Crimea and the Yalta International Economic Forum will operate throughout RIF 2017. Its participants will learn the results of YIEF 2015 and YIEF 2016, as well as plans for this year’s YIEF.
“We have a very busy schedule at RIF, with a series of business meetings setting the stage for signing investment contracts at YIEF”, said Andrey Nazarov, Co-chairman of the All-Russia Public Organization Delovaya Rossiya and Chairman of the Board of the Yalta International Economic Forum Foundation. “As we prepare for the third Forum in Yalta, we have seen a surge in investor interest in Crimea from both Russian and western businessmen. Moreover, we are planning a series of agreements with international investment companies to be signed after the Yalta forum, specifically with Turkish business. Crimea is apparently in for an investment boom, as soon as the major infrastructure projects currently under way have been completed.”
YIEF 2017 is scheduled to start in less than two months and the presentation of the business forum as part of RIF will be the final phase in the programme of events displaying the capacity of the Yalta International Economic Forum, says Sergey Lazutkin, Director of the YIEF Foundation.
“In 2016, YIEF was presented at all of the major business forums held in the Russian Federation: SPIEF, EEF, and RIF, and presentations were held abroad: in China, Bulgaria, Serbia and Italy. Only a week ago, Italy played host to the second series of presentations of YIEF capacity targeting European investors. The presentations generated considerable interest and businessmen from various industries expressed their intention to visit YIEF in April 2017. Some 50 representatives of the business community and politicians from Italy are expected to visit the Forum”, Sergey Lazutkin said.
