Cooperation of Abkhazia and Crimea with Syria is a promising area. Georgy Muradov – the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea, the Permanent Representative of the Republic under the President of the Russian Federation, claimed this during the video conference Sukhum-Simferopol in Sukhum.
On November 16th in Sukhum, Abkhazia and Crimea signed an action plan for the development of trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation for 2019-2021, which, in particular, includes work in the field of trade, industry, culture and youth projects.
"The Syrian direction is very promising for us due to objective circumstances. It is commonly known that both Syria, Crimea and Abkhazia are subject to absolutely illegal barbaric and illegitimate sanctions by Western States. Therefore, we are building our own chains of cooperation, we find profitable projects, especially Syria today needs solidarity in its fight against international terrorism, and in the restoration," Muradov said, answering the question of a journalist from Simferopol.
The Crimean Permanent Representative noted that during the visit of the Head of the Republic Sergey Aksyonov to Syria in September, the agreement was reached on the establishment of basic structures, such as a shipping company that could carry out the transportation of goods, and a trading house and the creation of a joint commission. "There is no question of any agreement, we did not sign anything, but the work is underway. Mutual understanding is also the beginning of the process, which usually leads to effective transactions at the entrepreneurial level and, if necessary, to the signing of contractual documents," Muradov said.
On May 29th 2018 Syria recognized the independence of Abkhazia and established diplomatic relations with it. From September 4th to 8th 2018 the delegation of Abkhazia visited Syria with the first official visit, in which the Presidents of Abkhazia and Syria Raul Khajimba and Bashar al-Assad signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation. The parties also signed a number of agreements on cooperation in other areas.
