Businessmen and public figures of the Kingdom of Bahrain are expected to participate in the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF), which is scheduled for 20–22 April 2017, said Georgy Muradov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation.
According to him, a possible increase in the number of Eastern partners of YIEF had been addressed a week previously in Bahrain, at a meeting of the intergovernmental commission chaired by the ministers of industry of Bahrain and Russia.
“For the first time, the Minutes included three paragraphs concerning Crimea and the Yalta International Economic Forum. They outlined the possibility of holding a presentation of the “This is Bahrain” festival at the Forum: it was proposed that the presentation should be held at YIEF for us eventually to provide a platform for it in Crimea. Furthermore, a paragraph was included confirming Crimea’s willingness to implement several investment projects with Bahraini entrepreneurs. This intention was included in the text of the Minutes of the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, so chances are very high that a Bahraini delegation will participate in YIEF. Crimea is making consistent steps towards making the international community increasingly aware that it is an integral part of Russia”, Mr. Muradov said.
He went on to say that businesses from Italy, Turkey, China, Greece, Bulgaria and other countries operated in Crimea and that YIEF should take credit for many of them. Some 30 investment projects involving foreign companies are under way. “All the investment projects are being implemented through Russia-based affiliates established by foreign companies”, said Georgy Muradov.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea, in 2017, some 150–250 foreign guests are expected at the YIEF, compared to 83 in 2016. The organizers of the Yalta International Economic Forum sent prospective foreign participants about a thousand invitations.
“We have just started receiving confirmations. The number of participating countries is growing: we hope there will be approximately 40. Crimea is an excellent and appealing destination for business. Two things are especially attractive: it is Russia’s only Free Economic Zone that allows production costs to be cut and the fact that Russia is implementing a federal target programme here to develop the infrastructure, which is especially important for investors”, Mr. Muradov said.
