Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov conducted a presentation of the Yalta International Economic Forum for reporters and investors in Sochi. The presentation was held at the stand of the Republic of Crimea as part of the Russian Investment Forum.
“The next, third, Yalta International Economic Forum, which will be held on 20–22 April, will be an important milestone in promoting Crimea’s investment potential”, said Mr. Aksyonov. “In our opinion, we will be able to present an intelligible format for the Forum and respond to businessmen’s questions. It is important to understand that YIEF is not only a significant economic initiative but also a political project. Following last year’s Forum, some regional parliaments of Italy and French MPs called for the sanctions to be lifted from our country.”
The Head of the Republic of Crimea referred to the possibility of direct and substantive dialogue between the authorities and prospective investors as one of the chief YIEF advantages. “Our objective is to provide business with all the requisite information and, where necessary, offer immediate support, take specific measures, in order to kick start the implementation process”, said Sergei Aksyonov. “I invite everyone to participate in our Forum. I am positive it will eventually become a major platform similar to Russia’s leading economic forums.
According to Andrey Nazarov, Chairman of the Board of the Yalta International Economic Forum Foundation and Co-chairman of the All-Russia Public Organization Delovaya Rossiya, the III Yalta International Economic Forum will have a busy business, sports and cultural programme.
“The first day – 20 April – will feature 30 events: various panel sessions, from international cooperation to such events as the Russia–Italy Business Dialogue. On the second day, three plenary sessions will be held: first, foreign investors will share how they see Russia. The second session “Country: The Russian Economy – Search for Domestic Resources” will see participants discuss the capacity of the state. The third discussion will focus on man – how the individual benefits from economic development and efforts to raise investment”, Mr Nazarov said. “The programme of the Forum is augmented by sporting events not only at the YIEF venue, but also throughout Crimea. The cultural programme will also be exciting: a film festival and concerts will be held. A vintage rally will conclude the event, providing an opportunity to ride in a few dozen old cars from the Mriya to Livadia Palace with a stop at Massandra.
