The participants in the III Yalta International Economic Forum have decided to set up a permanent organisation, International Club of Friends of Crimea, one of whose tasks would be to promote Crimea at the international level.
The proposal to set up the organisation was made by French financier and investor Jean-Pierre Thomas during the course of the plenary session of YIEF 2017.
“This association could bring together historians, intellectuals, politicians, economists and business people. It could be a major association seeking to open up Crimea to the whole world and make it a most interesting place for tourists and business people,” Mr Thomas said.
The Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov approved the initiative and stressed the need to formulate the club’s charter and sign a corresponding memorandum. “We believe this to be an effective instrument in overcoming sanctions and creating awareness of the real processes taking place in Crimea and the Russian Federation,” he said.
