Since 2014 Crimea has been implementing 168 investment projects worth 180 billion roubles. The head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said in an interview to RBC during the III Yalta International Economic Forum.
“Today more than 168 agreements under projects worth over 180 billion roubles are being implemented,” said Mr Aksyonov. “Sanctions or no sanctions, if business sees a chance to make money it will come to the region. For some sanctions mean crisis and for others it is a boon, a new window of opportunities.”
The head of the republic stressed that he does not insist that investors coming to Crimea reveal their identity to the public and is ready to protect information about the owners of businesses on the peninsula. “Investors can trust me that I will not reveal their identities. Foreign partners have exhibited a keen interest in growing and processing farm produce on the territory of the Republic of Crimea. While knowing the real owners and the real representatives of a company and the timeframe of implementing the projects I do not insist on publicising these business people. They themselves choose the level of openness they are prepared for. I will not harm any potential investor by my actions,” Sergey Aksyonov said.
As a result of YIEF 2017 declarations, agreements and investment contracts worth more than 100 billion roubles were signed.
