YIEF Organizing Committee Discusses Preparations for the IV Forum at a Session in Ufa

Head of the Republic of Crimea and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF) Sergey Aksyonov presided at a meeting of the Organising Committee focusing on the results of YIEF-2017 and preparations for the next forum, which is expected to take place in April 2018.

The session of the Organizing Committee was held in Ufa on 19 May as part of the working visit by a Crimean delegation to the Republic of Bashkortostan, which is playing host to the Days of the Republic of Crimea.

The head of the Republic of Crimea noted the high standard of organization of the business event, which brought together more than 2,200 participants from 46 countries. “I believe the Forum was held to a high organizational standard. However, some things need to be polished during preparations for the next Forum. The next 12 months must be filled with substance and specific activities to foster the Forum as a platform ensuring practical results. I am certain we have put together a systemic team. All the flaws and deficiencies we identified during previous forums were successfully eliminated during the third, and I believe the Forum reached its target”, Sergey Aksyonov said.

The Chairman of the Organizing Committee went on to say that the timeframe for YIEF-2018 had been decide: 19 through 21 April 2018. “We have to tackle the big challenge of preparing for the next, IV Forum”, Sergey Aksyonov said. “We need to improve the quality and effectiveness of the event very year. Crimea has enormous potential. Furthermore, the platform is a political activity designed to get Crimea recognised internationally as a constituent entity of the Russian Federation.”

Andrey Nazarov, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Co-chairman of the All-Russia Public Organization “Delovaya Rossiya” and Chairman of the Board of the Yalta International Economic Forum Foundation, Georgy Bryusov, Member of the Board of the Yalta International Economic Forum Foundation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee, Sergey Lazutkin, Director of YIEF Foundation, and other speakers presented reports on YIEF-2017.

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea Vitaly Nakhlupin said that the tasks set by the Head of the Republic for YIEF-2017 had all been fulfilled. “We managed to adapt general issues to Crimean reality and voice Crimean ideas amid general issues. Those willing to communicate with the Head of the Republic an opportunity to do so, despite his busy schedule: there were more than 30 meetings of this kind”, the Vice-Premier said.

The Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF) is an annual business event held in the Crimea.

The Forum is sponsored by the Government of the Republic of Crimea and the Yalta International Economic Forum Foundation with support from the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.

More than 2,200 participants took part in YIEF-2017, including over 200 international participants from 46 countries. The biggest foreign delegation to the Forum was from Italy, with more than 50 members.

YIEF-2017 featured 35 business events: 25 sessions, one grand session focusing on development of the construction sector, the key YIEF discussion — the big plenary session divided into three thematic units: World, Nation, and Human. The World unit centered on the economic situation in Russia from the perspective of international business. The participants addressed Russia’s role in the global economy, experience of engaging with Russia as a business partner, and explored possibilities opening up for foreign investors in Russia. The Nation section focused on prospects for building an innovation-based economy in Russia to meet tomorrow’s requirements. The Human unit was dedicated to social issues and the environment.

At YIEF-2017, contracts and agreements were signed worth a total of more than RUB 100 bn.
